Goosey Goosey Gander

a snapshot of yesterday:

Jaden: mom, will you read this to me? (a nursery rhyme)

Me: Goosey, Goosey Gander,
Where shall I wander?
Upstairs and downstairs and in my ladies chamber.
Once there was an old man who would not say his prayers
(in sinister voice) she took him by the left leg and threw him down the stairs!

Jaden:(in response to last line of rhyme) YEA!!!! (pause) But we're not supposed to throw people down the stairs right mom?

Me: Right honey.

Jaden: Can you read it again?

Me: Okay (repeat rhyme, keeping the sinister voice with last line).

Jaden: Mom, can you read it again without (proceed to make "sinister" noises)?

Me: Okay, one more time. (repeat rhyme and use nice sing-songy voice during last line). Is that better?

Jaden: (relieved) That's better.

I agree with Noel. Nursery rhymes are pretty twisted.

I'm still waiting for a Kalli/Jaden playdate... I'll bring the beer and Dan Zanes disc.
