I recant on asking your opinion on I Tim. I've been doing some reading on the discussion boards at Riverview, and I decided that I do not want my blog to be a place of controversial discussion.
Don't misunderstand, I like discussion. but I would then be obliged, since I am the blog "host" to respond, and I don't have time for that. I was only curious to see the thoughts out there, and not at all interested in opening a can of worms. Besides, I know most the people who comment on my blog and I have a good idea of their thoughts on the matter.
If you have something earth shattering that you would like to share with me, feel free to email me.
And if you don't have my email...um...
...then God probably didn't want you to share your thought with me.
I jest. Comment on my blog and I'll give you my email.

Darn!I was just preparing my well thought out and lightly sarcastic (but God honoring) response to your question... Perhaps another day...
I hope all is well with you guys. Sounds like life is crazy. Just didn't want you to think that you've been forgotten. Your fam. is always in my prayers.
whatever you say about 1 Tim. needs to be tempered with "there is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are one in Christ Jesus." (Gal. 3:28). The same author said both- and the Galatians passage seems to be more of a central doctrine. Still 1 Tim is in the Bible and we must deal with it. And that's where the thorny issues and controversy come in and I will stop. You don't want my opinion anyway :-)
We should get together to talk...I tired e mailing you, but it came back to me ;-( Let's do coffee.
Scott,
You make me smile man.
I love the Galations 3:28 verse, it's such an amazing picture of our position before Christ. I love the fact that even though we may have different roles (slaves/free), we are still one and equal under Christ.
The first Tim. passage should be understood in light of the fact that we are all=under Christ. We are all equal before God. He loves us the same, we all are made in his image.
We should also note, that the Galations passage was never intended to dismantle pre-fall roles like headship or post-fall roles, like slavery in which Paul even tells slaves to honor and obey their masters. The galations passage tells us our position before Christ, not our earthly roles.
Sorry Suz for spamming your blog!
Dan-
I'm glad I make you smile, though I wonder why. Once you start talking about "pre-fall roles like headship" you enter the world of controversy Suz explicitly forbid!! Speaking of Suz, Suz, aren't you glad Dan and I have commandeered your blog with our own conversation? And what's this about you spamming my blog? I don't know what he's talking about. Back to you Dan, it would be fun to talk to you about these so called "pre-fall roles." Of course it would be fun to talk about lots of things. We can always hope God will bring us together (or at least closer) sometime. But since I am going on and on anyway, you all need to come out here sometime. It will be amazing (this is a reminder of how much we love you, not a guilt trip :-) ).
Suz- I just reread Dan's post. So he was apologizing to YOU! For doing what I am doing now. Sweet!!!!
scott...what can i say...my life would not be the same if it did not have a scott in it. :)
How did it go yesterday? I wanted to come, but apparently the universe didn't want me to. :) Next week! (unless I'm going to be way behind and need to get a study guide in order to catch up... do you and Evie have Cliff's Notes?)
