i'm curious...how would you, reader of my blog, define evangelical christianity?

I'm not one for profound philosophyzing (yeah, I made that word up). Alas, here’s my theologically uneducated, non-pastoral attempt at leaving a comment…
The first word, ‘evangelical’ leads me to believe there is some idea/concept/belief/news worth sharing. The much harder and debatable word you included, ‘Christianity’ requires a more thorough response. Plus, I don’t think the definition is necessary to answer your original question, or maybe that’s what you’re getting at. Maybe I’m just avoiding opening the door to a theological debate… Maybe I’m a wimp and can’t handle theological scrutiny. Here’s my answer… It’s a person willing to communicate what they believe to be true of Jesus Christ.
Did I pass?

I think the link Dan provided is good. Basically it is a branch of Christianity that emphasizes personal conversion, evangelism, the centrality of Scripture, personal holiness and activism. Why?

I have no idea. My first thought is people that are big into evangelizing, and then I think about tv evangelists, and then it starts to get cynical...
but I found this article at:

I read the beginning and the end but just kind of skimmed the middle. Maybe you'll want to read it? It's funny because I've heard this term all my life and it's been used in so many different contexts, but I still don't know really what it is. How do YOU define it?

Beat 'em down with Jesus, sister. At least, that's my mission. People LOVE it.
