bumper stickers and christianity. what a lovely combination. especially when you are driving behind a man in brown buick with a picture of calvin (from calvin and hobbes...not john calvin) kneeling at a cross with the inscription "real men love Jesus" and with the stars above the cross making the shape of the christian fish on his back car window. i don't know what to think when that man also proceeds to lay on his horn and throw out a dirty look because the car in front of him wanted to...gasp.... turn into quality dairy. my thought is that if you have the gall to declare to the world that calvin is a repentant christian, you better watch the way you treat other drivers.
then...i see a car not 5 minutes later with the bumper sticker stating, "Do you follow Jesus this close." i must say i enjoyed that one, but it also sends out a little attitude.
i don't mind a little attitude, but i just don't know how i feel about slapping that attitude on your back bumper. i tell you...we christians are an odd bunch.

suz, i thought you might want to know that Watterson went to Kenyon College (5 minutes away from where I sit typing) and actually named Calvin and Hobbes after the two great philosophers (John Calvin and Thomas Hobbes). We actually touched on this briefly in phil. class about a week ago (so the info that he named then after those guys is second hand...)
It's so awesome to run across cool christian women. So, I found your hubby's blog and then linked to yours. Just for the record it was the pic of you guys in the hospital that made me investigate--you are a brave woman, my husband's camera was banned from the delivery room. Anyway.. just wanted to throw a little Amen your way for noticing how some Christians can be a little stupid sometimes.. Myself included.. but just for the record, there is a reason why Trev and I decided to not put a "Jesus" fish on the back of the car.. I have a bad habit of tailgating and generally driving badly.. Jesus doesn't need my bad advertising for Him.. Have a good weekend--Amy
Hey Suz! This is David Hopler...I liked your post about the bumper sticker. Now I don't know if you remember, but I had a Real Men Love Jesus bumper sticker on my car. I'm at school and I sold my car to Ann Marie, the car with that same bumper sticker on it, and she is definitely not a man. So remember...that car might have been sold to that guy with the sticker already on it. He could be a satan worshipper for all we know.
suz..its mariiiiiia.... from sunny MIA.how are you ma'am?? i was surfing around and look who I find..the coolest person ever! i actually found you through dan's blog, and omg your offspring is SO cute... i have some news to share thats not mine to share but you might like to know anyways...email me please and give my regards to the fam... love you bunches, lovelibutrkup84@aol.com
PS Ive deliberatly taken off every "christian" bumper sticker placed on my car by well meaning chrisitians... i know im only going to be the worst possible example ever on the road...plus i cant stand the cheesy yet obnoxious messages we saturate the world with ad nauseum.
